Vintage 1930s Tavannes Swiss Art Deco Mechanical Wristwatch – Working
Authentic circa 1930s Tavannes Swiss manual-wind wristwatch featuring striking Art Deco styling and a classic tonneau-shaped gold-tone case.
The beautifully aged silvered dial features oversized stylized Arabic numerals at 12, 3 and 9, geometric perimeter hour markers, gold-tone hands and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. Signed TAVANNES beneath the 12.
The inside case back is factory stamped “METAL,” identifying the case as base metal with a gold-tone/gilt finish. Interior handwritten markings appear to be vintage watchmaker service notations, including what appears to be a 1-21-90 service date.
Fitted with a vintage Speidel U.S.A. expansion bracelet.
The watch winds properly, runs and is currently working. No guarantee is made regarding long-term accuracy or service history due to the age of the watch.
It retains wonderful untouched vintage character with age-related dial patina, crystal scratches and surface wear to the case consistent with approximately 90 years of use. Please review photographs for condition.
A handsome surviving example of prewar Tavannes Swiss watchmaking with an especially attractive Art Deco dial.
